Excursion overview

Once in El Chaltén, take Route 41 (former Provincial Route 23) towards the Cordillera on the way to the southern tip of Lago del Desierto located 37 kms away (1:15 hs on a gravel and rocky road) you will reach the dock, where on board the Huemul boat, you will sail towards the Vespignani Reserve. During the 20-minute navigation you will be able to see the Huemul and Vespignani Glaciers and the north face of Cerro Fitz Roy.

At the reserve, you will be welcomed by the local guide who will provide information about 3 self-guided trails with different degrees of difficulty: easy, moderate and difficult. From the last two it is possible to get a close-up view of the largest and most imposing glacier of Lago del Desierto, the Vespignani Glacier, and get a unique view of Cerro Fitz Roy.

Towards the end of the afternoon, at the agreed time, passengers must return to the meeting point to embark again to the southern tip and then transfer to El Calafate.
