Located about 80 km from El Calafate, Perito Moreno Glacier is the true host of Los Glaciares National Park. Walking along the walkways is truly a unique experience.
From its beginning the trip offers pleasant surprises, since in the outskirts of the tourist village you can observe the Argentino Lake with its Round Bay populated, during most of the year, of an important variety of birds, highlighting the black-necked swan, flamingo, steamer duck, coot, cauquenes, framing the typical yellow soil, populated by coirones, or completely frozen during the winter, which turns it into an extensive natural skating rink.
The first 40 km run through the typical Patagonian steppe, up to the entrance gate of the National Park. From there, the trip continues in the forest. During the next 26 km, you can observe the arboreal vegetation formed by ñires, guindos, lengas and one or another cinnamon tree, and flowers of different colors, among which the notro stands out for its intense red color corresponding to the Andean Patagonian Forest.
In front of the Glacier, everything is majestic.
A system of walkways, which are joined in balconies and strategically located viewpoints, allows you to walk along the entire front and observe it from different perspectives. The walkways can be divided into 4 circuits: Central Walkway: 600 mts._ ( Includes 1st balcony, 2nd balcony and north balcony), the Lower Walkway: 1,100 mts. (Includes the lower balcony), the Coastal Walkway: 1,117 mts. (From the parking lot to the North Balcony), and the Forest Walkway: 570 mts.
The length of the walk will depend on the weather and the energy of the participants, who will have up to 3 hours to enjoy them, depending on their interest.
People with disabilities have an elevator that takes them to the first balcony, and they can walk along the Accessible Walkway: 565 mts.
During the visit, the walkways, which offer different views of the Glacier on its North and South faces, are toured.
Participants will have time for lunch (not included) and to enhance the experience: a 1 hour navigation (optional) that can bring them closer to the walls of the Glacier and walk along its front.
